While our societies are going through an unprecedented crisis in Europe in times of peace, many Civil Society Organisations are playing an essential role in supporting vulnerable communities and populations. 

The crisis has increased the vulnerabilities experienced by those who were already vulnerable. Gathered together* around the European Civic Forum, national platforms of NGOs have co-written an open letter addressed to the President of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen. The letter was also sent to Commissioners Jourova and Reynders.

It calls upon the European Commission to pay attention, in all the initiatives it takes, to including the CSOs in order to give them the place they deserve.

The European Civic Forum and the first signatories are calling all NGOs, regardless of their size and their scope, to join them in calling upon the European Commission and Member States to act swiftly and publicly in support of the CSOs’ role and action capacities during the crisis.
